ABOUT ABOUT

About The Smithereens:

The Smithereens are one of New Jersey's most beloved and longtime rock bands. We are looking forward to this special show - one of their first since Pat DiNizio's untimely passing - with Jim Babjak, Dennis Diken, Mike Mesaros, and special guest Marshall Crenshaw, who was also a guest vocalist at the recent tribute, "Time and Time Again: A Celebration of Pat DiNizio."

About The Grip Weeds:

“Sparkling, insanely catchy psyche-pop”: The Grip Weeds are a critically-acclaimed Psychedelic Rock /Power Pop quartet consisting of brothers Kurt and Rick Reil (on drums and guitar respectively), Kurt’s spouse Kristin Pinell Reil (guitar) and trusted friend Dave DeSantis (bass). All four members sing, and surrounded by their vintage equipment, this talented self-contained group writes and records slices of perfect, radio-friendly guitar-pop, psychedelic enough to appeal to record junkies and Sixties-retro fans, but edgy enough to fit into a modern rock set. The Grip Weeds have received consistent and sustained airplay for over a decade from Sirius/XM’s The Underground Garage Channel (among many other satellite/ terrestrial radio programs), where Steven Van Zandt has awarded at least half a dozen of their songs ”The Coolest Song In The World” status.  Their reputation as a top-shelf live band has brought them to venues across the United States and internationally, including multiple SXSW showcases in Austin, TX to Liverpool’s legendary Cavern Club, as well as several tours of Europe and Canada. In addition to performing their own music, they currently serve as backing group to the legendary Mark Lindsay (former lead singer of Paul Revere And The Raiders).

The latest Grip Weeds release, How I Won The War, is named after the 1967 Richard Lester motion picture. John Lennon's character in Lester's film, "Musketeer Gripweed" inspired the band's name, and the cover design pays homage to the cult classic movie. Building on the Grip Weeds sound while growing and advancing beyond all expectations, How I Won The War is “pure shock and awe– highly recommended.” –Power Popaholic
