About The Silos
The Silos, the still-kicking band Walter Salas-Humara co-founded in New York’s post-punk ‘80s scene played Alt-Rock, Alt-Country, and Americana before any critics coined those terms. Heralded at their outset by Rolling Stone as "America's Best New Band," the resilient Silos mix punk, roots, rock, and sage art-damaged truth telling. Salas-Humara’s narratives take on the weight of attentive, convincing poetry and wry wordplay. The Silos have created a sound that's hard to pin down - “The band's austere style inflects the astringent twang of The Velvet Underground with the drone of R.E.M. and adds countryish echoes that recall Gram Parsons," offered The New York Times. Their latest effort and 12th studio album “Family” was released in 2022.
